rukami nohami, 2013
rukami nohami by German photographer Anja Schäfer explores personal life stories of the people of Košice. The project is concentrating on a selected amount of biographies and their specific stories, which led to the confrontation of several barriers such as entering private spaces and stories, as well as communication difficulties. The phrase rukami nohami is a Slovak expression for the will of communicating even if you don’t speak the same language. In addition to the personal biographies the project also tells the story of multicultural backgrounds and the identity of the city, as well as its turbulent history and presence.
